A New Plan for Southeast Long Beach!
This project will be conducted over the next three years and is divided up into three main efforts:
- Gathering background information and creating a vision
- Generating a land use plan
- Preparation of the new regulatory documents
The process provides ample opportunity for the public to provide input on the new plan in various stages of the project and will include workshops, advisory committee meetings, and online community engagement opportunities.

EIR Scoping Meeting Presentation
An EIR Scoping Meeting was held on November 4, 2015 at the Best Western Golden Sails Hotel, that provided a brief review of the efforts completed over the past year and a review of the CEQA process topics that will be studied for potential impact in the Environmental Impact Report. The purpose of the meeting was to focus on the environmental analyses that will be completed in association with the project. The project specifics (land use, roadway configuration, design, relationship to wetlands, etc.) will be discussed in future meetings once the Specific Plan Draft has been completed.
Community Workshops - Help Shape Your Community!
- The third community workshop was held on February 11, 2015. Workshop attendees had the opportunity to receive current project information, and review and provide feedback on the proposed land use plan, alternative development scenarios, and design considerations.
The City of Long Beach conducted the first two series of community workshops for the Southeast Area Specific Plan on April 23 and 26, 2014, and on August 6, 2014. The purpose of the first series of workshops were to provide information about the planning process and to solicit input on the long-term vision and planning issues for the southeast area. The second series on August 6, 2014 focused on the Opportunities and Constraints Workbook, which summarizes initial research conducted by the planning team. At the workshop, the community learned more about the various topics addressed in the Workbook and had the opportunity to provide feedback. Click on the documents below for more information.
During three pop-up outreach events, the community shared what they loved about Southeast Long Beach. Click below to see what a few of them had to say.
