1st Street & Pine Avenue
10th Street & Pine Avenue
This Project will transform Pine Avenue into a cohesive centerpiece for Downtown. It includes numerous pedestrian enhancements, from new street trees and planting, to additional lighting, hardscape improvements, and street furnishings. This project will bring a new vitality to Downtown Long Beach through improved connectivity and a better pedestrian experience.
Construction of the Pine Avenue Improvement Project started in April 14, 2014, at Anaheim Street and will progress south. Click here for the latest Schedule, which will be updated as the project progresses. Please note that there will be some overlap of activities as well as between segments. Specific work zone schedules will be posted as they become available.
On January 7, 2014, the City Council approved the award of construction contracts to All American Asphalt and City Light and Power, in the amount of $5.2 million. The Project includes a "no work" period for Grand Prix Week, April 7-13, 2014, from Seaside Way to 7th Street. Other work schedule constraints have been incorporated into the contract documents to minimize public inconvenience and maintain productive work hours for the contractor. The contract duration provides 250 working days, approximately one year, for completion.
During construction, traffic control plans will be in place to minimize conflicts with businesses and residents. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction.
The City is working with DLBA to update stakeholders as to the status of the project. In addition, the City has established a dedicated hotline phone number by which members of the public can speak to a member of project team. The project hotline is (562) 908-3516.
