The Disabled Access Appeals Board was merged with the Board of Examiners, Appeals and Condemnation as of November 18, 2014.
The Board of Examiners, Appeals and Condemnation (BEAC) is established by Long Beach Municipal Code 18.10.020 as the body entrusted to determine the suitability of alternate methods and materials and types of construction and to review the determinations of the Building Official relative to the correction of substandard conditions in buildings, to abate nuisances, and to enforce State regulations pertaining to access to public accommodations by physically handicapped persons. In addition, the Board presides over Administrative Citation Appeal Hearings as neutral hearing officers weighing evidence to determine whether an appeal should be granted or denied.
Seven Long Beach residents, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, volunteer their time and expertise to serve on the Board.
