The Long Beach Development Services Building and Safety Team is proud to recognize the 38th annual Building Safety Month (BSM) during the entire month of May! BSM is an international campaign aimed at improving public safety by increasing awareness to help individuals, families, and businesses learn what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures. We are honored to join the International Code Council alongside government agencies, corporations, professional associations, and organizations worldwide to raise awareness on the important topic of building safety.
This year's theme, "Building Codes Save Lives," focuses on reinforcing the important role of code officials in ensuring safe and livable buildings, preparing our structures and community before a natural disaster strikes, encouraging water conservation, and promoting the use of technology in the construction industry.
Mayor Garcia presents a proclamation in recognition of Building Safety Month to Development Services Director Linda F. Tatum, and Building Official David Khorram, on May 8, 2018.
