PACIFIC TOWER
205-215 Long Beach Blvd. (1923)

Architect: W. Horace Austin

This building is similar in design and scale to the Security Pacific Building at 1st and Pine, in classical Renaissance Revivial architecture with light terra cotta against red brick. The U-shaped design maximizes utilization of natural sunlight and air. Rich terra cotta detailing is found on the ground floor base and at the top two stories. W. Horace Austin was a prominent architect who practiced in Long Beach from 1900 - 1942; when he died, he was called "Dean of Architects." Many of his most notable works have been demolished. The Pacific Tower building was Andrus Building. Many prominent attorneys had their offices there.
